In Bronnie Ware’s book “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying,” you’ll find the following:
“Most people had not honored even half
of their dreams and had to die knowing it was
due to choices they made, or not made.”
How do you feel when you read this?
Does reading this pull the strings of regret?
Have you honored at least half of your dreams?
Reading this brought me instant regret, because I realized that I hadn’t honored all of my dreams. I’ve actually thought a lot about this and have come to the conclusion that we don’t honor our dreams because we “settle.”
The definition of settling is adopting a more steady or secure style of life, especially in permanent job and home.
We settle every time we let go of something we want in life.
We settle when…
– We choose to comprise with others.
– We choose to give up.
– We choose to quit.
– We stop pursuing our dreams.
After reading Ware’ quote, I made a list of dreams I let go of in my life. It wasn’t a fun list to make. I felt massive regret over each one. I actually felt like I cheated myself out of something I wanted.
It was a BIG wake-up call for me.
So let me offer you the same wake-up call…
Where have you settled in your life?
What dreams have you let go of?
Seriously, take 10-minutes right now and list 5 dreams you’ve let go of at some point in your life.
Are you pissed at yourself? GOOD!
This IS your chance to UNsettle.
This is your chance to pick those dreams back up and make them happen!
Do not wait. Get started now!
P.S. This was excerpted from my February 2018 Cashflownaire newsletter. In this particular newsletter, I dig into why we actually settle and the steps we need to take to start living our dreams again. I’m actually taking these same steps myself. I’ve picked up the dreams I let go of and am fighting for them again. I share everything I’m doing in the Cashflownaire newsletters.
