Ever since I was a young boy I’ve thought hard work was necessary for financial success. My guess is that you probably believe this too. 🙁
We believe this because this is what we were taught by others. I believed this idea so strongly that I worked very hard for many years thinking I could work my way into financial success. When I was a CPA working for Deloitte & Touche, I was bound and determined to be the hardest working person at my level. I wanted to be the first one at the office and the last one to leave. I did this for years.
When I started selling homes as a real estate professional, I continued thinking that hard work was necessary for financial success. I made myself available for my clients 24/7. I put them first and was willing to do whatever it took to make the sale.
Sadly, I never took the time to consider if all of my hard work was actually necessary? I never considered if this idea… that hard work is necessary for financial success… was actually a limiting belief passed on from generation to generation.
The reality is there are many professionals including accountants, attorneys, doctors, sales professionals, banking executives and more that work very hard and haven’t achieved the financial success they hoped for when they started.
If all of these professionals work very hard and haven’t achieved financial success is hard work really necessary?
This is an important question to ponder because it opens up our thinking. It helps us question this idea giving us the chance to try and validate it’s accuracy. More than likely, when you dive into this you’ll see that financial success isn’t guaranteed to those who work hard. 🙁
I’ve obviously thought a lot about this and have come to the conclusion that hard work is NOT required for financial success.
That’s the good news!
The bad news is that there is ONE thing that we must do to become financially successful. It’s actually a requirement. If you don’t do this ONE thing, your chances of financial success will be severely limited.
