When ole Robby was a young man, I tended to react emotionally to problems. I didn’t have the maturity or self-control to stop and think about the best way to handle problems. If someone slighted me in any fashion, I tended to react quickly. My emotions controlled my actions, and these emotional responses always ended up creating even Mo problems.  :0(

Mo problems obviously equals less peace of mind!

Looking back, I don’t think I truly valued peace of mind. Sadly, I valued those pesky dollar bills more and constantly traded away my peace of mind in the pursuit of money. I chased every business opportunity regardless of the headaches created. I went after every leveraged real estate investment I could buy regardless of the debt I was guaranteeing.

As I’ve matured, my perspective has changed significantly. I now value peace of mind over money. I don’t pursue most business opportunities. I’ve toned down my greed, and I’m learning how to not respond emotionally to problems. It’s certainly not easy to change our innate human nature surrounding greed and fear, but it’s important. Learning how to override our emotions can make our lives a lot better.

In the August Cashflownaire Newsletter, which will be released next week, I share a story about a recent problem I had that could have become very ugly. Thankfully, I was able to keep this problem under control and ultimately decided to purchase peace of mind.

The hardest part about all of this may be purposefully trading away money for happiness. The reason why we seem to struggle with this is because we don’t see very many people do it. Most people make money their priority and this creates a great deal of stress and unhappiness. We tend to copy what we see.

If you’re struggling with a problem (or problems) that’s consuming your peace of mind, you might want to get your hands on my August Cashflownaire Newsletter. You’ll see how to think strategically to make choices that are in your best interest. Choices that bring peace of mind instead of misery.
